Principal’s Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
ANZAC Day March – Huskisson
Thank you to all who participated in our Anzac Day commemorations. It was truly heartwarming to see 21 of our students proudly representing our school and their families at the Huskisson march. Your presence and participation not only honored the memory of our fallen heroes, but also showcased the strong spirit of unity and respect within our school community.
To each student who marched and to their families who supported them, I extend a sincere thank you. Your dedication and respect for this important day did not go unnoticed. Below, you will find some photos capturing the essence of the day. They serve as a reminder of the pride and respect with which our students represented our school. Thank you also to our wonderful school P&C who donated food and drinks to the students who participated.
Once again, thank you to all who participated and may the spirit of Anzac Day continue to inspire us all throughout the year.
Class Names
We are excited to share with you the culmination of a collaborative effort among our dedicated teachers and our local elders over the past few years: the names of our classes at Tomerong Public School. Embracing our local indigenous heritage, each class has been bestowed with a name that holds significance to our community.
Here are the class names for the current academic year along with their respective teachers:
It is our aim to infuse these local names into the fabric of our school culture, fostering a sense of pride and connection within our student body. As we move forward, we will continue to honor and uphold these names, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity and community integration.
School Attendance
Each fortnight I will be sharing with you our school attendance data. As you can see below, our classes have good attendance rates. The class with the best attendance over the last 2 weeks has been Cambewarra (3/4B), and they have a small in-class reward.
Our overall school attendance rate for the last fortnight was 90%, which is fantastic. Thank you for ensuring your kids are attending school with such regularity.
PSSA Boys Soccer Team
Our school's PSSA Boys Soccer Team has advanced to the next round of the competition! This is a wonderful achievement and a testament to the hard work, dedication and talent of our student-athletes.
We eagerly await the outcome of the next round and have full confidence in your abilities. Whether you win or lose, know that you have already made us proud. Keep giving it your all, and enjoy every moment of the journey!
2024 School Photos
I would like to remind you that school photos are scheduled for Wednesday 15 May (Week 3). This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to capture some lasting memories of their time at Tomerong Public School.
To ensure that everyone looks their best, we kindly request that all students wear their full winter school uniform on photo day. Please make sure your child is prepared and dressed appropriately on the day. If you have any questions or concerns about school photos, please contact MSP Photography on 4231 3009. Families that wish to order sibling photos, order forms are available at the office.
Have a great fortnight.

A huge thank you to our outgoing canteen coordinators, Carlyie and Jodie, for all their hard work in keeping the canteen going. We are extremely grateful to our new Tomerong Public School canteen coordinator, Leonie, for kindly putting her hand up to take on the role so our kids won't miss out.
The canteen will be closed this week but will re-open next Wednesday, 15 May. If you are able to volunteer at all this term, please write your name on the roster located on the canteen door or email the P&C at tomerongpandc@gmail.com.

School Cross Country
We were so fortunate to have amazing weather for last Wednesday’s school cross country.
I was incredibly proud of all our students’ efforts. It was a terrific day of running and a great demonstration of school spirit. A special assembly will be held to award the ribbons. We will notify parents when a date has been announced.
Students who qualified for the District Cross Country received their DASH permission notes last Thursday. These notes need to be completed by Friday 17 May.
Students need to be transported to and from the venue by their parents.
The District Cross Country will be held at ‘Willandra’ on Thursday 23 May. We wish ‘Team Tomerong’ well on the day. A program of events will be given to students once I have received it.
Mr Munn
Nowra Athletics Club is having an inaugural schools cross country round on Saturday 11th May at Billy Jean Park in Tomerong.
All school-aged runners are encouraged to come and run with the Club.
This is an opportunity for school students who are not members of the Club, to run on a great cross country course alongside our Club members, and use it for a chance to practice for their school competition within a supportive community.
The schools round will be conducted at the private property “Billy Jean Park” which is located at the end of William Bryce Rd, Tomerong. Turn off Hawken Rd into William Bryce Rd, Tomerong.
Distances on offer:
1 & 2km – 2pm
Long course and 3km – 2.30pm
Medium course – 3pm
