Principal’s Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
Students Going Above and Beyond with Behaviour
Every few weeks I ask teachers to nominate students, who have been going above and beyond with their behaviour at school, to have a hot chocolate with me. This week the following students were sent to me:
Bob – Kindy
Lotte - 1C
Sam – 2B
Adelyn – 3/4F
Harper – 3/4B
Liliana - 5/6A
Kenzie – 5/6M
These students said the best thing about school this year has been the swimming carnival, learning new things, especially in maths and designing the new Year 6 shirts. They all said that everyone loves the new bells and that the kids go crazy with dancing when a good bell song comes on. They also like the fact that the bell gives them time to go from the playground to their classrooms.
Well done to this group of students. I’m very proud of the way you attend school every day at Tomerong Public School.
School Gates
As we prioritise the safety and security of our students, I'd like to remind everyone of the importance of keeping our school gates closed. Our closed gate procedures serve as a crucial measure
to ensure the well-being of our students during school hours.
While we understand that there might be instances where the gates need to be opened for various reasons, such as deliveries or special events, I kindly urge those responsible to ensure that they are promptly closed afterward. Your cooperation in adhering to this procedure is greatly appreciated.
School Attendance
Each fortnight I will be sharing with you our school attendance data. As you can see below, our classes have good attendance rates. The class with the best attendance over the last 2 weeks has been 3/4F, and they have a small in-class reward.
Our overall school attendance rate for the last fortnight was 92%, which is fantastic. Thank you for ensuring your kids are attending school with such regularity.
P&C Meeting
Our next P&C meeting is scheduled for Monday 25 March, in the school library. The meeting will commence at 6.15pm.
These meetings are invaluable opportunities for us to come together as a community, discuss important matters concerning our school and collaborate on ways to enhance the educational experience for our students. Your involvement and contributions are highly valued and I encourage all parents and guardians to attend.
Whether you are a seasoned member, or attending for the first time, your presence and input are warmly welcomed. Together, we can continue to positively impact our students' educational journey. We look forward to seeing you there!
2025 Enrolments
It’s never too early to begin the enrolment process for Kindergarten students who will be joining us in 2025. If you know of any families with kindergarten-aged children who are in the catchment area to enroll at Tomerong Public School, we kindly ask you to inform them about our enrolment procedures and encourage them to get in touch with our school.
At Tomerong Public School, we pride ourselves on providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where young learners can flourish academically, socially and emotionally. Our dedicated staff are committed to ensuring that every child receives the support and guidance they need to reach their full potential.
If you have questions about the enrolment process or want to schedule a tour of our school facilities, please contact our office. We are here to assist you every step of the way and
to welcome new families into our school community with open arms.
Quality Teaching Rounds – Classroom Observations
I would like to share with you an exciting initiative we are implementing this year at Tomerong Public School, Quality Teaching Rounds.
Quality Teaching Rounds involve teachers observing their peers in the classroom, focusing on conversations about quality teaching practices. This approach has already been successfully implemented over the last couple of weeks. During these observation sessions, up to four other teachers join the classroom. I am pleased to report that our students have handled this transition exceptionally well.
We are eager and excited to witness the improvements and enhancements that will come from this collaborative effort. Quality Teaching Rounds provide a valuable opportunity for our teachers to learn from one another, refine their teaching techniques, and ultimately provide the best possible education for our students.
Have a great fortnight.

Year 6 to Year 7 Transition
The Year 6 to Year 7 transition process requires parents to complete an online expression of interest form (EOI), regardless of whether you would like your child to attend a government or non-government school. The EOI link is open until Thursday 4 April and is available below or on the schools website.
If you are completing a paper copy of the EOI, these must be returned by the Thursday 28 March 2024. for every student transitioning to Year 7 in 2025.
